My Reading Ethic | Why Does It Matter?

Happy Sunday, hope you’ve all been having a wonderful weekend! So, due to work load, I will only be posting once today 😦 I know, sad times.

Today I really wanted to post about reading in general. So I took a book out of the library yesterday, and am already 348/468 pages in. I’m reading Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson, and I am so hooked. People who don’t read just don’t understand the feeling of being hooked by a book. It feels so great to be so caught up in a book that you can’t put it down!

What I mean by being hooked is forcing yourself to put down the book at 1am and sleep. That’s what happened last night. People JUST DON’T GET IT.

This morning, my sister rolled her eyes at the fact that I am only 120 pages from the end of an AMAZING book.

And sometimes, it really hurts. I don’t roll my eyes at the fact she does art until 11pm and is constantly drawing. So why should it matter to her if I enjoy reading and read a lot? I just do not get it.

It’s like I’m constantly being judged for the fact that I love reading.

When my mother found out that I had a bookstagram page, she actually said, “you’ve got a nerd blog?” And laughed. I actually wanted to leave the table.

It just really hurts when people are judgmental, and especially when they judge someone for something that they love. I just don’t know why people can’t accept others for who they are.

Sorry for the rant/off load, I’m posting these far too often now. What experiences have you had when people find out that you blog?

As always,

GWR X

  1. Ugh seriously! Normal people just don’t get it! Everyone has something they’re obsessed with and just because you don’t get why that person reads a lot doesn’t mean you have the right to judge them! Like people who cry while watching sad movies is perfectly normal and understandable but if you are reading and crying over something heartbreaking, people will judge you and wonder why you’re crying over a book! ITS THE SAME THING!!! It really annoys me how people think, like if I’m sitting alone in a corner happily being completely engrossed by a book, people start thinking I’m depressed! What. The. Banana.
There’s lots of other things that annoy me about non-readers but the important thing is to not care about how they react. As long as YOU enjoy what you’re doing and find it awesome, everyone else doesn’t matter! Don’t let the muggles get to you Lu!!!

    1. Thank you! I totally agree about the movie-book thing! I’ve nearly cried so much at the book I’m currently reading,, though I stopped myself because I didn’t want to seem weird to OTHER PEOPLE?! I really don’t like it when other people judge someone for reading a book! I’m like: are you being serious?! I will not let the muggles get me down!! Thank you maya 💕
