November Book Haul.

Happy Sunday,

Another week is coming to a close, and so is November, and as I’m not going to be buying anymore books, I thought I’d share my November Book Haul with everyone! Some I’ve yet to read, which I plan to read in December, and I will leave links to the ones that I’ve already read.

The books I bought thus Month:

30065028263284522548034231368214222997631609682428763485286868407896527

  1. Throne of Glass.
  2. A Court of Thorns and Roses.
  3. Holding up the Universe.
  4. The 12 Days of Dash and Lily.
  5. The Sun Is Also A Star.
  6. Crooked Kingdom.
  7. Fantastic Beasts (Screen Play).
  8. My True Love Gave To Me.
  9. A Monster Calls.

I’ve read 1-4 on my list, as well as Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares, and completing Percy Jackson Book One.

Throne of Glass: I loved this book. I found it so polished, and loved the progression of events and how so anythings were going on at the same time, I found the characters hilarious, charming, and their friendships were amazing. You can find my full review here.

ACOTAR: You could say I loved this book, or you could say that I am OBSESSED with it. Today I saw the follow up book a total of five times, and the restraint not to buy it was verging on impossible. This book was beautifully written, and I loved how things were hidden, and then the truth just came out from EVERYWHERE. So many plot twists, AHHH moments, and squeaky fangirl moments. You can find a full review here.

Holding up the Universe: Another beautiful book that was so refreshing to read, and really got to some of the issues in modern day society. This was a breath of fresh air, and one of my favourite contemporaries this year. This book may have been a little cheesy at times, but it was still mainly about the other factors of the book, which made it easy to over look those cheesy-ish parts. See my full review here.

The 12 Days of Dash and Lily: So I read this lil’ beaut after buddy reading the first book with two other bloggers, and I found this a realy great follow up, as it was sweet, their relationship had complications, the characters were a little more grown up, and it was a really cute autumn read that definitely got me into the Christmas Spirit! You can see my review here.

On to the books I need to read:

  1. The Sun Is Also A Star.
  2. Crooked Kingdom.
  3. Fantastic Beasts (Screen Play).
  4. My True Love Gave To Me.
  5. A Monster Calls.

26328452On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me . . .

This beautiful collection features twelve gorgeously romantic stories set during the festive period, by some of the most talented and exciting YA authors writing today. The stories are filled with the magic of first love and the magic of the holidays.

I’m reading this book with Tea Time Readers, a book club, and I picked it up today, and as well as the book sounding so cute, so is the cover! I have the exact one shown above, and I am in love with the glittering letters and Christmassy-ness of the book. I think this is a PERFECT Christmas book, and am so so excited!

Natasha: I’m a girl who believes in science and facts. Not fate. Not destiny. Or dreams that will never come true. I’m definitely not the kind of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him. Not when my family is twelve hours away from being deported to Jamaica. Falling in love with him won’t be my story.

Daniel: I’ve always been the good son, the good student, living up to my parents’ high expectations. Never the poet. Or the dreamer. But when I see her, I forget about all that. Something about Natasha makes me think that fate has something much more extraordinary in store—for both of us.

The Universe: Every moment in our lives has brought us to this single moment. A million futures lie before us. Which one will come true?

I was going to read this in November, and I’m a little bummed that I didn’t manage to read it, but I’d prefer to read it at a time when I can enjoy reading it rather than rush through it and have a bad reading experience. I love Nicola Yoon’s book Everything, Everything, and I hope that this byokholds up to the same amazing standard, and from what I’ve heard, it really does, so I am so excited to be reading it (finally!).

22299763Kaz Brekker and his crew have just pulled off a heist so daring even they didn’t think they’d survive. But instead of divvying up a fat reward, they’re right back to fighting for their lives. Double-crossed and left crippled by the kidnapping of a valuable team member, the crew is low on resources, allies, and hope. As powerful forces from around the world descend on Ketterdam to root out the secrets of the dangerous drug known as jurda parem, old rivals and new enemies emerge to challenge Kaz’s cunning and test the team’s fragile loyalties. A war will be waged on the city’s dark and twisting streets―a battle for revenge and redemption that will decide the fate of magic in the Grisha world.

I don’t think I’m prepared for this book, apparently it is so dramatic, and I don’t want the story  to end, as it will mean the end of Ketterdam : (. However, I desperately want to read this book, and witness the amazing-ness. This book, from what people’ve told me, starts much quicker paced than SoC, which was a bit of an issue, as I found SoC as bit difficult to get into. But hearing that CK is much faster makes me want to read it even more and more!

The monster showed up after midnight. As they do.

But it isn’t the monster Conor’s been expecting. He’s been expecting the one from his nightmare, the one he’s had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments, the one with the darkness and the wind and the screaming…

This monster is something different, though. Something ancient, something wild. And it wants the most dangerous thing of all from Conor.

It wants the truth.

I couldn’t help myself, I saw it today when purchasing My True Love Gave To Me, and then went back for it after five minutes. I really wanted to get the illustrated original copy, but I was £1 short! £1! I wanted to read this book after reading The Rest Of Us Just Live Here, but didn’t get round to it, and I figured that I cud read it and them watch the film, and weep and weep about it. I am fully prepared to cry at this book, hands up, I admit it. I love crying at books because it means that they were amazing. I nearly even cried at the intro that Patrick wrote when I was standing in the cue to pay for it.

30065028When Magizoologist Newt Scamander arrives in New York, he intends his stay to be just a brief stopover. However, when his magical case is misplaced and some of Newt’s fantastic beasts escape, it spells trouble for everyone…

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them marks the screenwriting debut of J.K. Rowling, author of the beloved and internationally bestselling Harry Potter books. Featuring a cast of remarkable characters, this is epic, adventure-packed storytelling at its very best.

B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L. If you’ve seen my instagram recently, you will know how ready I am to read this book. I am dying to read it, more from J. K Rowling’s wizarding world? Yes please!!! I cannot wait to read about the wizarding world in America, and goo on an adventurous roller coaster. I loved reading Cursed Child, the lay out made the book such a good read, and really made your imagination go wild. I can’t wait for the same to happen with Fantastic Beasts!

Have you read any of these books? What did you think? Are any of these your next read/ on your TBR? Let me know!

  1. I’ve only read Dash and Lily’s book of Dares out of that series and unfortunately I have to admit I wasn’t really such a fan of it. Not sure why, it had been on my shelf for years and I finally picked it up over the Christmas break but I didn’t find it that gripping. I went to see A Monster Calls in the cinema recently as well and it had me SOBBING more than any other film I’ve seen (apart from The Bridge to Terabithia when I was a child), so I’d love to pick up the book sometime and give it a read! Thanks for posting this it was a really interesting read 🙂 xxx

  3. What a great haul! I really hope you love Crooked Kingdom! I was worried about how it might measure up to the first one, but it’s definitely an excellent sequel to Six of Crows. I’m so sad that it’s already ended. But I’m hoping for a few spinoffs LOL. I loved ACOTAR but ACOMAF is a whole nother level. It’s simply phenomenal. I’m sure you’ll love it, too!

I’ve just bought Everything, Everything but haven’t gotten to it yet, but I’ve heard it’s really good. And Holding Up the Universe is also on my TBR. I’ll add A Monster Calls to my list because it sounds AMAZING. Lovely post! 😀

A Monster Calls is on my TBR. I haven’t read a Patrick Ness book before so I’m excited. I hope you enjoy the books! Have a great day.

  5. Great haul Lu! I almost bought The Sun is Also a Star and Holding Up the Universe today. Had to restrain myself. I was out to buy other people presents, not for myself. I’m glad you enjoyed Holding Up the Universe though. I’m hoping it’s good when I get around to it. I haven’t read any of the books on any of your lists above, haha.

  6. GO BUY ACOMAF. If you were obsessed with ACOTAR, you will be turned into a pile of goop by the complete and utter perfection that is ACOMAF. Cyber Monday is tomorrow! Deals on paperback novels!! I cannot recommend it enough.

It is absolutely unfortunate how many books on this list I haven’t read for myself yet. I started following Nicola Yoon on Twitter to motivate me to pick up her novels ASAP, because she is such a lovely and fantastic person + writer. I definitely plan to grab those Christmas-themed anthologies soon, especially My True Love Gave to Me, mostly because I need more Jenny Han & Kiersten White to hold me over until their upcoming sequels are officially released.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the books you got! Amazing haul this month!!
