DNF… Yes? No?

HELLO LOVELY PEOPLE OF THE INTERNET.

DNF-ING A BOOK HEADER

So, I’m reading two books at once because one book just isn’t… GRABBING ME. It’s sad, but it does happen from time to time, (but extraextrasad because I was sososososososo excited for itttttt).

BUT DNF-ING.

(      SO DNF = DID NOT FINISH.   DNF-ING = MARKING A BOOK AS ‘DID NOT FINISH BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T LIKE IT.       ) — just for y’all who didn’t knowwwwww.

YES? NO?

MAYBE? should iiiiii?

It seems like this HORRIBLE SIN and I hate to do it. BUT THEN AGAIN, I just CANNOT GET INTO THE BOOK.

Buuuut ON THE OTHER HAND I want to stick with it because I could lovelovelovelovelove it and would SOSOSOSO regret not giving it a solid chance.

DONT GET ME WRONGGGGGG…

I’ve DNF-ED a book before, I aint no DNF virgin. BUT I don’t like doing it. I want to give the book a chance.

BUT WHEN IS THIS BOOK GOING TO GET GOING??? I’M NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER HERE PEOPLE.

I really want to get through my TBR and this book is quite frankly slowing me down.

I shouldn’t feel bad for DNF-ING a book. It’s totally valid to NOT read a book.

See, I’M reading A Darker Shade Of Magic and I’ve heard NOTHING but absolutely AMAZING things about it and I’ve wanted to read this book for forever! So I’m super conflicted.

However. I’m going to give it a chance. I’m going to aim to get at least 120 pages in,  (double what I’ve already read) as that’s a fair chance for the book to get exciting, and see where I go from there.

Do you DNF? LET ME KNOW IM NOT ALONE WHEN // IF I DO!!

  1. I haven’t really DNF’d until the past few weeks or so. This only happened because I started a book that I reallyyy hated. I’m happy I did though, and I don’t regret it.

  2. Life’s too short to read books you’re not enjoying, or don’t think you’ll enjoy if you keep reading. DNF’ing is only something I’ve started doing this year, and it’s something I wish I’d done A LOT sooner! – Maddie x

  3. The way I see it, life is too short to be reading books you’re just not enjoying in. Put it down and read something else. Perhaps you can go back to it afterwards with a fresh set of eyes (metaphorically, literally that would be super creepy!) 🙂

    1. Hahaha yes! That’s what I’m planning to do, I’m going to continue reading for a little bit (while also reading other books) and if I still don’t find that i love it I’ll put it down and see if I want to read it later

  4. Life is too short. There was an algorithm run that if you’re 30 and you read 86 books a year, by 70 you will have only read 4,000 books. That’s not very many.
    So every. Book. Counts.

  5. I have no problems DNF’ing books. I feel like If I’m not enjoying what I’m reading it’s a waste of time. I would definitely give ADSOM a chance, it is such an amazing book.
