Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag!

Hey so I’ve seen these everywhere on booktube and around on de blogs, so.,,,, I thought why not jump on the band wagon? Honestly, for me I think that 2017 has been a really good reading year so far.

I’m super optimistic for the rest of this year, especially this summer and I can’t wait to review the books that I’ve devoured this year.

Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2017

Golly, I’ve read a lot of good books this year and I’ve freaking loved all of them (well most of them anyway). I don’t think that I can list just one, so I’ll try and keep this short.

  1. Lady Midnight,
  2. ACOMAF,
  3. The Hate U Give.

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2017

Okay, this is for sure ACOMAF. It was my first read of the year and I felt that Feyre was much better development wise and really became who she was meant to be?? I felt she was a tad blah in ACOTAR and ACOMAF was a real step up from ACOTAR.

New Release You Haven’t Read Yet but Want To

So many books it’s unreal. For this I’m going to pick Lord of Shadows. I want to read this so bad after reading Lady Midnight. IT destroyed me and I want to be destroyed even moreeeeeeeeeee.

Most Anticipated Releases for the Second Half of the Year

OKayyyyyy so there’s a lot. I want to read Tower of Dawn so bad, and of course every other book published in the entire world,,, but for real is that gunna happen?? who knows, I could grow infinite money trees and grow extra heads and read 6 books at once and try.

Biggest Disappointment

None of the books have really been disappointing to be honest, but I think that one that didn’t really live up to my expectations 1000% was Traitor to the Throne. I thought the plot was a little boring in the middle and felt some of the content there was unnecessary.

Biggest Surprise

OHHHHH!!!!! This one is super difficult. For this I’m picking The Hate U Give because this one impacted me so much, and not just in the “oh my gosh these characters are so amazing” way, it’s because of the message it spreads and how influential this book is, and can be in our society.

Favourite New Author

Becky Albertalli. Most of the books I’ve read are by authors that I’ve already read before, so…. but still, Becky Albertalli has made me love contemporaries again. If I could,, I would gift this woman a billion books and cakes but,,, unfortunately I cannot.

Favourite New Crush

Errrrrmmmm,,, there are so many,,,, but I’m picking Julian from Lady Midnight. He’s honestly my smol and just a bean an d I freaking love him.

Favourite New Characters

ERRRRRR. Literally everyone from Lady Midnight and everyone from ACOMAF and ACOWAR and everyone from The Upside Of Unrequited, especially Maddie’s parents because they were just the best parents in ya contemporary.

Books That Made You Cry

Urghhhh this tag seriously doesn’t know me well.

Almost every book makes me cry. Lemme list them for you: ACOMAF, Heir of Fire, Queen of Shadows, ACOWAR, Illuminae, Shadow and Bone, The Upside of Unrequited, THUG, Rebel of the Sands, Lady Midnight.

OKAY I CRY AT EVERYTHING.

A Book That Made You Happy

ERM ALL THE BOOKS THAT I LIKED THIS YEAR???? DUHHHHHHH!!!

Especially The Upside Of Unrequited since it was super cure and I felt super cute reading it and it was so adorable and I freaking LOVED it.

Most Beautiful Books You’ve Bought So Far This Year

ERM SO MANY BEAUTIFUL BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought Caraval (haven’t read it yet) and its SO PRETTY!!!

Also, Shadow and Bone, and Siege and Storm, and ACOWAR!!! OHHHH ACOWARRRRRR!

What Books Do You Need to Read Before the End of the Year?

Literally all the books that are going to be published ever. Like,,,, Tower of Dawn! And Lord of Shadows! And Ruin and Rising, and THE REST OF THE FREAKING Harry Potter BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So that’s my mid year book freak out! What have been your most memorable books of this year so far?

See you next post!

Luuuuuuu

  4. I also thought that Traitor to the Throne was boring and slow. I loved the first book so much and then this…it was beyond disappointing. 😦

    1. Yeah, I liked the overall plot, but get that what made it boring was that it was very slow in the middle. I think that it would have been much better if more happened.

        1. Yesss!!! Where was Jin in this book?!?!?!?!!? I missed him so muchhhhh. I really want book three, but for me it will determine whether I like the trilogy overall or not.

          1. Totally!! Because if it’s just as good or even better than the first book I can easily forgive the lackluster middle one. If not, then it will officially be one of the most disappointing trilogies I’ve read. That would be so sad.
