BOOKS I THOUGHT I WOULD LIKE MORE.

HELLOOOO!
More often than not I feel that I’m far too ‘OMG I FREAKING LOVE THIS BOOK!!!’. And I’m just not critical enough not he internet.

LOL throwback to the post where rant about not liking ‘When Dimple Met Rishi’ the OTHER DAY.

WARNING. UNLESS YOU COULDN’T TELL FROM THE TITLE, THIS POST IS FILLED WITH A LOT OF NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT BOOKS YOU MIGHT ACTUALLY LIKE.

Without further ado…

1. A MONSTER CALLS.

So this is a book that I went into thinking that I would really love. I love love loveeee Patrick Ness, but this book wasn’t as emotional as I thought that it would be for me.

When I read a book I want my heart to be broken into a thousand pieces and smush-smush-SMUSHED and basically destroyed.

But that didn’t happen with this book.

WHY AREN’T I SATISFIED WITH JUST A BIT OF EMOTIONAL PAIN???

2. WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI.

You may remember my post from two days??? ago.

This was just had toooooo many cliche aspects for me and I COULDN’T deal. It was just not for me.

Contemporaries just aren’t my thing anymore and I has SUCH high hopes for this book and that’s why I was SO let down.

3. AN ABUNDANCE OF KATHERINES.

I love John Green a lot. Do not get me wrong. I’ve loved all of the books by him that I’ve read.

But for me, this book was too slow and did not go anywhere.

It was just a bore for me.

That’s it really.

4. ALLEGIANT.

The ending. WHAT THE HELL.

This was just a bit of a flop in consideration to the other books in the series. I feel like  the ending could have been avoided, and ten times better than it was. like,,,, some of it just want necessary?????????????

I’ve even left the film half watched because I didn’t like it anymore.

5. THE ONE MEMORY OF FLORA BANKS.

This was just weird. I found the plot pretty basic, and the representation of the mental illness was good, but I found that it was very repetitive and slow, and the plot just went nowhere.

6. THE MAZE RUNNER.

I liked the movie, and really liked that representation.

Looking back, the book was just generally bad.

I didn’t like the characters or the world, or just the whole plot outline.  LMAO

It’s just not the type of book that I would read. And I get it, lots of people might like this book, but I just don’t. giphy-2-2.gif

7. ME BEFORE YOU.

I found this book just a little too slow and couldn’t get into it. I really wanted to like it because I wanted to read the book because I wanted to see the movie.

Again, this is a contemporary, and they just aren’t my thing anymore.

That’s all from me,

LUUUUUUU

  1. Oh my god I totally agree with Allegiant and An Abundance Of Katherines. I’d heard so much abt that book and I was soooooo disappointed. (Also cuz like I hate math and that book had wayyy too much math for me😂) and allegiant was just SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT. I EXPECTED SO MUCH MORE. would love it if you could check out my blog, I write book related stuff too!

  2. I haven’t read any of these other than The Maze Runner, mainly because the idea of them don’t really interest me. I think the Maze Runner was a bit over hyped, but I did have a fun time reading the first one. After that it kind of went downhill.

    1. Yeah, if I were to come across the books now I would probably just walk straight past them. At the time, I was ok about the first one, but I totally agree about the rest going down hill!

  3. I couldn’t finish reading Maze \Runner and I really, really didn’t want to read Allegiant because it got spoiled for me. I liked WDMR a lot but i know what you mean about Flora Banks, even though I liked the book as well. I think if I re-read it I’d get what you meant more because I have a tendency to get swept away by the hype.

    1. Sammeeee with hype, up until now I would often just with the “I REALLY LOVED THIS BOOK!” trend and not really think over what I’d read. URG Maze Runner!

I still cant believe Allegiant was spoiled for you! urhgfjsfn

  4. I agree with all the books you’ve mentioned except Dimple and Rishi, I loved the story, it was cute and light. I generally don’t like John Green, and I can’t seem to read A Monsters Call, Me Before you was such a freaking slow read, I prefer the movie 100%. I never could read The Maze Runner, for, by the time I was ready, I was done with Dystopian books. I have never heard of The One Memory of Flora Banks, and I wouldn’t even think of reading it.

    1. Yes I couldn’t get into Me Before You (I think that I got to page 30 before giving up) because, as you said, it was SO S L O W! John Green for me has stopped being so high up on my loved authors! I used to really like his writing, but not now 😦

Ive never been overly keen on Dystopian books, perhaps another reason that I didnt really like it then ahah

  5. I havne’t read When Dimple Met Rishi yet but everyone keeps saying the same thing!!

Also with Allegiant, I remember reading it years and ago and dropped it while I was trying to walk and read at the same time. I picked the book up, accidentally read THAT scene, closed the book and returned it. Never finished the Divergent series and never want to either.
    Great post!!!

The whole series was ruuiiined by Allegiant! I was so angry and damn, I’ve never been that angry over a book. I don’t think that I’ve ever been so let down!

  7. Omggg I absolutely detested the Allegiant ending. It was so horrible and the main character’s death was so abrupt that I really wasn’t prepared when I read it
