HELP ME…
GOLLY I adore this book.
Now that the ley lines around Cabeswater have been woken, nothing for Ronan, Gansey, Blue, and Adam will be the same. Ronan, for one, is falling more and more deeply into his dreams, and his dreams are intruding more and more into waking life. Meanwhile, some very sinister people are looking for some of the same pieces of the Cabeswater puzzle that Gansey is after…

Don’t get me wrong* I see faults, like,,,, B I G ones (just one), but I still really loved the story. How does that make sense? Don’t even ask, don’t even ask** BUT FOR ME THIS REALLY WAS A 5/5 STAR BOOK.
“While I’m gone,” Gansey said, pausing, “dream me the world. Something new for every night.”
For me the big issue with this book is that it was rather s l o w until the last 50 pages where the book really started happening. Up until then, the book was still REALLY interesting and I was really drawn into the story, which is usual now with this author.
*what is my obsession with saying this?
** then why the hell am I even asking? urh sometimes I think that my brain just REFUSES POINT BLANK to actually work like a normal brain. This happens A LOT. Hence why my reviews all my posts are a complete jumble that no one understands.

I had the same feeling of ‘O H M Y W O R D I CAN’T PUT THIS BOOK DOWN!!!’ Despite the slow plot it was brilliant.
And Ronan was everything that was left: molten eyes and a smile made for war.
THEY’RE ALL CINNAMON ROLLS I TELL YOU.

The characters were so much more of a driving force in Dream Thieves compared to the first book. As you may know, or guessed from the blurb, this book is mainly about Ronan (who looks like he would kill you but is really a cinnamon roll at heart) and the book becomes way darker and magical than the first.
In that moment, Blue was a little in love with all of them.
Their magic. Their quest. Their awfulness and strangeness.
Her raven boys.
ADAM. There was way more on Adam. NGL, Adam Parrish is not my fave fave atm, (GANSEY) but I liked him a LOT more in this book than the last. In the beginning of the book I was like,, “this kid,, go away for a bit yeh??” but then at the VERY end, not towards the end, I thought he was pretty decent.
‘I wish you could be kissed, Jane,’ he said. ‘Because I would beg just one off you. Under all this.’ He flailed an arm toward the stars.’
THERE ARE DREAMS AND DRUGS AND GUNS AND PSYCHIC WITCHY-WOO AND SECRETS.
I don’t actually know how to talk about this book without just saying “waaaa it was so so so so incredible” and then just discussing every aspect in the book and spoiling it for absolutely everyone.
Alsooooo there are mentioning of the LEGTQ+ community and I I really hope that it’s pursued in the following books because I think that some more diversity would be really great.
She wore a dress Ronan thought looked like a lampshade. Whatever sort of lamp it belonged on, Gansey clearly wished he had one.
Ronan wasn’t a fan of lamps.
Literally, this book was so good that I had to call ELM afterwards and we both just shrieked for a while.
THIS BOOK WAS GREAT.
Again, I’m going to shout to the internet: W H Y D I D’ N T I R E A D T H I S S O O N E R ? ? ? ? ? ?
I think it’s safe to say that I read this book VERY quickly and I was literally consumed whole by it.
That’s all from me today!
LUUUUUUUUUU

Yay!!! So glad you enjoyed it! I agree that the plot is rather slow until the end, and that happens again in the third book so I think it’s just her style. However due to the amount I care about the characters (hint it’s a lot) I don’t really care about the slow pacing of the plot. This series is definitely all about the characters, and because I love them that’s great.

So true!! Her writing is so beautiful and it feels so purposeful and well chosen. Every sentence adds to the story.

OMG YES!! And the way that she pre-empts things and then completely turns it on its head just changes up the story in a way that NO ONE expects!
