WELCOME TO THE POST WHERE I CLAIM MY TITLE AS CAKE QUEEN. 

#1 thing you NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ME: I freaking love cake so much. I eat it all the time in my mind hardly eat it BUT DAMN, IF I COULD I WOULD EAT CAKE ALL DAY.

I got this tag from Cait @PaperFury whose blog is #perfection and if you’re not following her already then.. . well why the hell not and what have you been doing with your life?

1. CHOCOLATE CAKE (a dark book you absolutely love)

GAH CHOCOLATE CAKE. GAH DARK BOOKS.

Stabbing, murdering, robbing, fighting and generally being the dark commander of the entire world are some of my favourite hobbies, so as you can imagine, dark books and I happen to get along VERY WELL. It happens to be my favourite kind of book!

LET ME SHARE SOME.

• LADY MIDNIGHT: GAH. Okay this book. *peeeehhhhhhhhhhhfffff**takes a breath* This book does NOT seem like it’s going to be dark AT ALL but then all out of nowhere YOU’VE GOT THINGS HAPPENING in this world THAT YOU THOUGHT THAT YOU NEW SO WELL. And then YOU’RE WHACKED IN THE FACE with a massive punch of immense “omg I did not see that coming” and YOU CANNOT RECOVER. I don’t know how else to phrase it.
• THIS SAVAGE SONG: this book starts off DARK, is continually DARK and ends DARK. IT’S JUST DARK DARK DARK and when you think things can’t possibly get ANY DARKER. BAM! Practically ALL THE CHARACTERS ARE DARK AT SOME STAGE. It’s just unavoidable in this book. AND THERE ARE CHARACTERS THAT ARE BATTLING THE DARKNESS WITHIN THEMSELVES. HOW DO YOU NOT JUST WANT TO GIVE THEM ALL CAKE AND HUG THEM UNTIL EVERYTHING IS BETTER? I mean. . . I’m not obsessed with this book or anything.  . . why would you even sat that? . . .
• SIX OF CROWS: This book is literally about murderers, thieves, fighting and contains STABBING, MURDER, PRISONS, THIEVING, AND BEING GENERALLY BAD YET KICK-ASS. I’m SORRY, but if that’s not “DARK” THEN IDK WHAT IS. And KAZ BREKKER. WHOOOOOAAAAAA KAZ BREKKER. MAH LURVE FER HIRM WILL NHERVEHR DIAAAH.  *composes oneself* 
• CROOKED KINGDOM: YEAAASS. I couldn’t NOT mention this one. Even more slaughter and stabbing than the last book, Crooked Kingdom has even more deceit and torture! Who wouldn’t want that, eh? EXACTLY! NOBODY. Everyone get’s so much darker and death-y, it’s brilliant. As EMPRESS OF ALL THE GALAXIES, I COMMAND EVERYONE TO EMBRACE THE DEATH-Y-NESS AND TORTURE-I-NESS OF THIS BOOK. DARK DAY TO YE! 
• ILLUMINAE: I spent the last 200 pages of this book SCARED HALF WAYY TO DEATH AND BACK* IN FEAR there were machines going crazy all over the show #LoveAIDIAN. And commanders that were AWFUL HUMAN BEINGS but also TRYING TO SAVE AT LEAST SOME OF THE PEOPLE AND GAH.
• A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC: It even has dark in the title. GAH so much stabbing, I thought that I was in heaven. IT WAS WONDERFUL. Obviously, it was v. sad when the MC was stabbed, of course, of course, I didn’t enjoy that bit at alllllll. . . BUT THE STABBING WAS SUPERB CAN YOU REALLY BLAME ME????

*DONT WORRY, I am immortal I SHALL NEVER DIE AND RULE OVER YOU FOREVER.

2. VANILLA CAKE (a light read)

what. What are these “light reads” that you speak of? I ONLY KNOW OF INTENSE HEAT-ATTACK-INDUCING READS THAT SCARE YOU TO DEATH.

Most of these I read AGESSSS ago before fantasy-intense-death-y-reads took over my soul but I loved all of these little gems. *hides gems away so people can’t steal them* They were all so cute!

3. RED VELVET (a book that gave you mixed emotions)

I MEAN. THERE ARE GOOD A FEW. BUT LET’S PICK TWO

A Court of Wings and Ruin: 

There’s is a lot about this book that now, looking back on, I did not like. When I read it I was so swept away with the hype that it clouded my judgement A LOT and there are some ace-phobic elements that once are pointed out, you cannot hide away from whether they were intentional or not, and also, I just didn’t like some of the plot, a large amount could have been cut out.

Allegiant: 

I liked the beginning of this book. AND by that I mean the first 50 pages or so. Tris was a completely different person, THE ENDING ROYALLY SUCKED, and there were only a few moments that I actually liked. It was fast though, and some of it was quite interesting.

While I have the opportunity I would like to state a few things 1) red velvet cake is so scrummy 2) everyone should send me a red velvet cake 3) it is also my friend Hannah’s favourite, so send her some too, and one of the reasons we bonded. SEE CAKE IS SO GREAT IT CREATES FRIENDSHIPS.

4. CHEESECAKE (a book you would recommend to anyone)

5. COFFEE CAKE (a book you started but never finished)

I really did not like this book.

I HAD TO GIVE UP. IT WILL NEVER RISE FROM MY SHELVES AGAIN. UNLESS I AM GIVING IT AWAY. I’m sorry, it just was not for me at all.

• Thought that it would be more about culture. That stopped at like,,, page 20.
• Didn’t like the MC at all. Found that she was irrational and got annoyed so easy.
• Was filled with drama from very early on, and it was silly, and not needed at all.
• I only liked Rishi.
• All of a sudden there was INSTA-LOVE. No, ty.

6. CARROT CAKE (a book with great writing)

OMG A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC. SO MUCH STABBINGS IT WAS WONDERFUL. BUT  MERRRRRRRR ALSO THIS SAVAGE SONG?? I’m using this book for 2 categories BECAUSE WHY NOT? YOU CANT STOP ME.

ADSOM confused the hell out of me half the time, the other half it was beautiful, but This Savage Song. . . now that was pureeeeee beautyyyyyy.

7. TIRAMISU (book that left you wanting more)

GAH TIAMISU. *MELTS* 

WAAA WHY. THESE BOOKS MADE ME SO DESPERATE. I’M DESPERATE ENOUGH ALREADY!!

8. CUPCAKES (series with 4+ books)

CASSANDRA CALRES BOOK THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS & THE TOG SERIES.

BUUUUUUTTTTTTT TMI OVER TOG. soz sarah.

No series (apart for the raven cycle when I ACTUALLY FINISH IT) will compare to the TMI series. It has so much emotion and SO MANY KNIVES AND DEMONS AND KICK-ASS CHARACTERS. I’m sorry. what can compare?

9. FRUIT CAKE (book that wasn’t what you anticipated)

I went into all of these books knowing literally NOTHING about them, or VERY LITTLE and I enjoyed every one of them!

10. LAMINGTON (favourite Australian books)

I miss lamingtons.

Mwah look at the scrumminess. I haven’t had a proper lamington in over 11 years because England doesn’t have them BUT I STILL REMEMBER THE TASTE AND THE AMAZINGNESS AND GOSH I LOVE THEM.

11 YEARS!!! IN ASKABAN!!! 

My sister’s made lamingtons ONCE since we moved from Australia. ONCE. I need lamingtons in my life. 

Oh right. Where was I.

Australian books! *collects prompt cards and straightens cloak of darkness*

OKAY. ILLUMINAE WAS SO TENSE I LOVE IT.

AIDIAN. I ACTUALLY LOVE HIM OKAY? I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU ALL SAY. HE WENT A BOT CRAZY, WE ALL DO SOMETIMES LIKE ME RIGHT NOW. 

Everyone must read this book.
