HOW TO READ MORE WITHOUT BEING A READING MACHINE (DOUBTFUL METHODS INCLUDED)

Heyyyyyyyyy

So all the time sometimes I think we all get the feeling of “GAH I WANT TO READ MORE!!!” but. . . nothing really happens about it. Or, if it does, then we just end up reading alllll the time and binge reading and we don’t really process what we’re reading and we end up feeling like READING MACHINES*. And that is NEVER

NEVER

a good thing.

It can be a good thing for a little while, but afterwards I just feel worn out.

*being a reading machine would be freaking crazy. But IMAGINE all the books we could read!

1. PRIORITISE READING OVER OTHER THINGS.

This is probably the easiest thing to do in the planet. . . because BOOKS ARE GREAT WHY AREN’T THEY ALREADY YOUR PRIORITY?

For me, reading is a priority for me. I have hardly no hobbies* and well. . . books rule the world. When I want to read, I READ. I put reading ABOVE EVERYTHING ELSE (maybe just next to cake bc. . . cake!)**

love-at-first-sight
you can love books by just “looking” at the pages, so yes, Ryan. <- LOGIC

If you find yourself putting things over your reading, and want to read more, change things about.

OBVIOUSLY I’m not saying put reading above everything. Of course not. (just maybe think of it???) We all have lives and other responsibilities and work (well you might, I don’t). But if you find that you’re blogging more than you’re reading, and want to read more, chill it down a bit.

*because I have no life. It’s just blogging and reading for me .  . . I’m not even joking.  ** DID I MENTION CAKE?????

2. MAKE 50 COPIES OF YOURSELF SO YOU CAN READ 50 BOOKS AT A TIME.

NOW THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST LOGICAL THING ON THE LIST.

I would love to just make multiple copies of myself so that I can read 50 books at a time. . . but it would be kind of weird. . . But IMAGINE ALL THE BOOKS THAT WOULD GET READDDDDDDDD. . . this is totally being a reading machine.

Damon, don’t judge me pls. . .

OKAY SO MAYBE NOT THIS ONE.

3. READ WHENEVER YOU HAVE  5+ MINS TO SPARE.

Now this can make you feel like a reading machine. . .

BUT HEY, IF THAT’S HOW YOU ROLE, I AIN’T ONE TO JUDGE***

WHACK THAT GAVIL!

Carry your book in your bag, and when you’re waiting for an appointment, or on a work break, or at lunch. ANY TIME YOU CAN. Whenever I take a book out with me in my bag, I almost ALWAYS NEVER END UP READING IT. I know, I fail as a bookworm. I’LL JUST DO WHAT I WAS BORN TO DO AND EAT CAKE WHILE PARADING AROUND MY CASTLE OF DARKNESS AS EMPRESS OF THE GALAXIES.

***I’m sort of judging, . . in the best way possible!

4. STAY UP ALL NIGHT READING.

Personally, I cannot do this as my eyes do this thing where they close and my brain turns off, but hey, you can always give it a go!

tenor-4.gif
just looking at this gif makes me want to go to bed so bad because look how comfortable he looks. . .

I read pretty late sometimes, but by 1am I have to call it a day and just stop. My eyes just don’t want to carry on. Thing is, I can blog until 2:30 but I can’t read that late???? SURELY IT SHOULD BE THE OTHER WAY AROUND?????? I personally think that we should all just be able to read 24/7 buttttttt . . .

this turns us into reading machines.

5. SCHEDULE IN READING.

I don’t really like this because I hate having to order my life hour by hour at the moment, butttttt if you’re that organised then,,, well. 1) I envy you. 2) do this.

ann-youre-beautiful-and-youre-organised

If I could follow an hour-by-hour plan of my day, I seriously would but for me it’s.just.not.possible. I AM A FREE GAZEL. I’ve tried bullet journals, I’ve tried writing daily plans, weekly plans, IT JUST DOES NOT WORM FOR ME. I just have a lonngggggg list that I tick off in THE MOST RANDOM ORDER AND IT MAKES NO SENSE. #unorganised.

This is just another way of prioritising your reading. ALSO READING-MACHINE-LIKE.

6. FEIGN AN ILLNESS.

THINK ABOUT IT.

You’re relaxingly lying in bed, your family minions bring you soup, and cake every few hours, but promptly leave because they don’t want to get sick, you can read to your heart’s content and peacefully stress out while reading 568327 books a day. . .

NOW DOESN’T THAT SOUND WONDERFUL?

I was sick in January okay, and I literally couldn’t leave my bed for FOUR DAYS. I read a book each day of that, sometimes even finishing one and getting half way through another. It was horrible, BUT IT WAS BLISS.

7. HAVE A LONGER SITTING.

If you read more in one go, you WILL feel as though you’re reading more and are making more progress in your reading.

IT’S JUST COMMON SENSE.

mwahaha and some people said that I didn’t have any *cocky smile* *winks* mwahahaaaa.

I’m basically Sherlock.

I loveeeeeeeeeee having long reading sessions rather than reading bits and bobs here and there. It makes me feel like I achieve more, which is needed because I don’t achieve much else. That is FACT. ahah jk. . .  not really tho?

8. SPEED UP YOUR AUDIO-BOOK.

I’m not really a big lover of audio books??? I ant seem to enjoy them asa much, but honestly, if I was a fan I would have it as fast as I can (and still be able to understand it) so that I could get as much reading in as possible. . .

I mean. . . there’s some logic here???

I really should try an audio book again. . . but can you really blame me for not finding a DRACULA AUDIO-BOOK the most enthralling thing on the planets? But they would be so convenient. . .

9. HIDE AWAY FROM THE REST OF THE WORLD.

And by this I mean TURN YOUR DAMN PHONE OFF. TURN OFF THE TV.

http---mashable.com-wp-content-gallery-book-lovers-reading-icarly

I don’t know about you, but despite LOVING MY FRIENDS, when I’m reading and my phone keeps going  “pingpingpingpingpingpingpingpingpingping” it’s A TAD DISTRACTING.

Even if you just turn off your devices for 30 minutes to an hour, you will get soooooo much quality reading done!

AND DON’T WORRY, I’m sure your friends can survive the wait for you to return. BUT YOUR BOOKS NEED TO BE LOVED.  All they want is for you to love them. . . will you really deny them that??

IMG_1882

I think that we can conclude from this posts that we’re all gonna end up as reading machines one day because well. . . books are great. WE ARE ALL READING MACHINES TO SOME DEGREE. I MEAN. . . IS IT REALLY SO BAD BEIGN A READING MACHINE? (YES)

Guys, read however much you want, whenever you want. After all, we’re reading for pleasure and it’t not about who can read more ❤

What do you think of this post? How do you read more? Do you even want to read more?

  1. I love binge reading. I hate reading for short period of time. I would rather binge read half a book in one day then read throughout the day, a little bit here and there.

  2. Yassssss. Hiding away from the world is the best and most effective solution ever which I try to apply regularly in daily life. Pretending to be sick is a veryyyy close second. Love this post and was basically nodding my head frantically with each word!!
