May Wrap-Up: This Is A Bit Late But We Don’t Care + Not Enough Books, Not Enough Blogging, Not Enough LIFE ft. All The Book Screamings.

Let’s quickly acknowledge that this!! post!! is!! on!! time!! ish!! 

Honestly, May was exhausting. I don’t think I actually slept last month. I know my hand nearly dropped off from all the exams and the studying and my, I am SO thankful that these exams are coming to an end!

It’s still technically May when I’m writing this, and trust me I’m begging for it to be over. I cannot wait to SLEEP in. I cannot wait to not have to write an essay for TWO AND A HALF MONTHS. I cannot wait to go to Cornwall and lie in the sun and read books and blog for a month with no interruption.

Is it bad that I’m wishing my life away? NOT IN MY OPINION, IF I’M BEING HONEST.

CAN THE NEXT THREE WEEKS BE DONE ALREADY?

1. Autoboyography by Christina Lauren – 5/5 – this was SO AMAZING. The LGBTQ+ rep from the Bi main character and Gay love interest was amazing, especially with the <big>internalised homophobia, and this book also had a HUGE message about faith and sexuality and how one really can affect the other and specifically on the Mormon faith. SEBAAAASTIAAAAANNNN!! bby!!!  And, it also tackled stereotypes of being Bisexual too, which I thought was great considering that it’s not widely talked about in YA! There was so much heartbreak, so, of course, I had to be killed by this book more than once so I reread it and then reread it again. Review here.

2. The Dangerous Art of Blending In by Angelo Surmelis – 4/5 – This was so heartbreaking. It is about a Greek family in America who are devout Catholics, and the mother is very strict, and the MC is also gay. This novel does not shy away from the horrors of parental abuse, and it was so so so heartbreaking and GUYS I was sobbing. It was a bit slow in the beginning, but I read it in an afternoon, so YOU KNOW IT’S WORTH IT. YOU. NEED. THIS. Review here.

3. Solitaire by Alice Oseman – 5/5 – ifwengjngdjgbdfgbksdgujgbldig. I’ve wanted to read this book for so SO long and drjgjrdng!!! I was not disappointed!! I was so confused and in awe and TORI, I love her and the rep there. I also love how much focus there is on Charlie, her brother, who is gay and had/has an eating disorder and just what a lil cutie he is and NICK omg every time there was a Nick and Charlie scene my heart just EXPLODED. But I JUST LOVED the representation of seeing a loved one/sibling go through an eating disorder, as I don’t think that it’s repped enough and I found it really relatable to my own experiences and made the book EVEN MORE HEARTBREAKING AND AMAZING.

Of course, I would have LOVED to read more than this, but with the exams and everything, I think that this is actually an okay amount of books? Especially considering that I read Autoboyography 2.5 times and I have 0 regrets about that, nor shall I ever. JUST YOU TRY AND MAKE ME REGRET THAT.

YES, THIS HAPPENED. And Can I just say WHAT A GREAT BOOK SOLITAIRE IS? I was SO confused and NEEDED TO KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. I read most if it in an afternoon and I’m 10000% sure this is because Queen Alice Oseman blessed this reading experience herself.
