the best book of the year so far 

• • AUTOBOYOGRAPHY: NO DOUBT. No doubt at all. Like at all. I just want to hold this book forever and be a peaceful soul. This book is just amazing. It just tears out my heart and smashes it up into about ten trillion pieces.
  • THE KING’S MEN: I freaking adore this series and in my opinion, it just get’s better book by book. So many emotions, so much torture and mafia, and so much f a m i l y. When I think about this series (and let’s face it, when do I not think about this series?) I just want to curl up and sob. and whither. and fade away.

the best sequel you’ve read so far

So yeah these. I freaking adore this series and they’re not here because they’re the only ones that I’ve read so far. There here because even if I’dread 1000’s of sequels, then they would still be right here.

• THE RAVEN KING: this book contains two of the most d e v i s t a t i n g scenes in the whole series (y’all who’ve read it know WHICH FREAKING PART I MEAN IM SCREAMING MY MINYARD CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!) and dfjngjfg I want to cry. This series is no bundle of joy, and this book is no exception. AT ALL. It’s so so dark, and it makes my heart so so happy sad.

a new release that you haven’t read yet but want to 

A THOUSAND PERFECT NOTES: 7th July!! This book!! Was released!! I have it!! SO!! Not all hope is lost!! But. I just haven’t read it yet. I kind of freaked out in the bookstore when I saw it and then freaked out like a flailing seagull and bought it.

I’m so so so excited to read this, and OH BOY I know that I’m going to love it.

most anticipated upcoming release 

Again, I can’t choose so… HERE ARE TWO. Let’s face it, you’re going to be getting at least two every time.

• WHAT IF IT’S US: This sounds absolutely adorable and I love Becky Albertalli and I loved We Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera and oh gosh I’m not prepared for this cuteness that’s going to make my heart smush. I cannot wait to deal with the aftermath that will be my tears and sobbing and general melt-down.
• A LADY’S GUIDE: I cannot wait for the British humour and the sass and the adventure. I can’t wait to read more about Felicity and gahhhh this sounds amazing.

the biggest disappointment so far 

uhhhhhhhh. Well. *awkward cough*

• SIMON VS:  so I know what you’re thinking, HOW CAN I SAY THIS??? but, I think that the ending was just a bit of a let down for me and I just thought that the ending was quick and I just wanted m o r e. Not in the same way as “oh my gosh i can’t deal with not having more of this otp/story” (i mean, yes that too) but I think that it was more in the sense, “this ending was too sjgsjs” you know????? It was a mix of the two but like.,,, I don’t knowwwwww.

the biggest surprise of the year so far 

 SOLITAIRE: So I was really hyped for this book (literally SO hyped) and it got way darker, and wayyy more mysterious than I thought that it would get? I expected it to be mindblowing, but it was mind-boggling. This met and exceeded my expectations by 1000% I was so surprised by the plot, continuously wanting to know more. IT WAS JUST SO MUCH MORE. 

I think that the darkness of this book is not hinted AT ALL in the blurb and descriptions, so the whole plot just RJGNSJKRGNRG-ed my brain.

He’s just. the purest. And the kindest. And no, I do not prefer him to people from my real life. pft. Who do you take me for? HA I tricked you, of course, I prefer him to real people (I got you 😉 ha )*. Honestly, he’s just a gem who really needs a hug, and a hug that lasts 1000 years and he needs it now. Well. After the traumatic experience ^^^^^ just then, I really don’t want to be thinking about this since this year I’ve cried at so many books, WHICH ISN’T A THING THAT I NORMALLY DO.

So.

I’m just going to give you the pictures because it will take me approximately 60482 words to describe each book.

favourite book to movie adaptation this year 

LOVE, SIMON / SIMON VS!: despite what I said about this book being a bit of a  disappointment, I still loved it!! And!! I liked the adaptation. I was a little peeved by the end and how (spoilers in white text so select the next few lines to reveal) the whole coming out thing at the end basically forced Bram to come out to a whole bunch of people when before he wasn’t ready and that could have actually been really pressuring????(end of spoilers) but I liked the overall adaptation, it was very fun, very impactful and made SUCH a statement.

I think that one of my favourite reviews to write was actually for Simon Vs? It’s one that I actually published on my blog (here) or the review that I did for Autoboyography (here). I think that I loved writing these reviews because I had so much raving to do for these and I just remembered how much I ENJOYED THE BOOK while writing it.

I think that one of the prettiest books that I got this year is either Neverknight (which ilsa the smol child sent to me because she’s amazing ❤ thank you again) or either A Thousand Perfect Notes which I bought very recently and cannot wait to read too! I’m reading both next month because finally, I am out of school and HAVE TIME TO READ AGAIN!!!!!!

books i need to read before the end of the year 

How long is this post going to get??? seriously??? This tag is basically begging for me to just keep on rambling. Not that I’m complaining. You probably are by this point, but suck it up because I still have things to say.

Basically my tbr is… long. So I’m not going to bore you to tears with that.

1. Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody (because ilsa has screamed at me ao many times to read this and I gave in about 6 thousand years ago).
2. Radio Silence by Alice Oseman (because it sounds amazing and I loved solitaire and Elm screams about this SO much).
3. I Was Born For This by Alice Oseman (b/c this sounds fabulous and NOT all about romance and the boyband dynamics have great reviews and the trans!! rep!! as well as different ethnicities and Persian Muslim rep!!! just all the rep here!! and did you see how much Lia raved about it in the collab??? OBVIOUSLY I NEED IT. )
4. Anger Is A Gift by Mark Oshiro (this sounds like the love child of Angie Thomas and Nic Stone and I need it in my life asap. There’s also an m/m relationship and I can just tell that the plot is going to rip out my heart and stab it to oblivion).
5. Girl Made of Stars by Ashley Herring Blake (May adores this book and talks about it so much on her blog and this sounds like such. a. good. book. it will destroy me, and I’m fine with that).
