A Court Of Mist And Fury…

Hello,

I know I havent posted in a while, I feel so horrible for not doing so, but I have been completely wrapped up by this book in my spare time (which I have had very little of the past couple of days since returning to school).

So I can hardly function right now. This book has had me hooked for days and I am emotionally drained from this book and have so much to say and will probably miss half of it out anyways.

17927395Feyre survived Amarantha’s clutches to return to the Spring Court—but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can’t forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin’s people.

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms—and she might be key to stopping it.

But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future—and the future of a world torn apart.

Characters:

Feyre was so broken at the start of this book, and she grew so much because of it. I preferred her way more in this book than the previous one, and I loved her in the first one, so this is saying something! Past halfway I found that she had really embraced who she wanted to be and was fighting for what se really cared about. I loved reading from her perspective, and found that this book had way more emotions from her that were much more passionate than the first book and reading from her point of view was just fantastic.

Tamlin was horrible. I honestly can’t stand him. This is a very large change in attitude towards him from the first book, as I really loved him, and now cannot stand the guy. His actions were so wrong, and he never realised until the damage was done. And there’s a part of me that believes that he doesn’t really care about Feyre’s happiness, only his own. I find him stubborn and honestly, want him to just leave. Bye Tamlin.

Rhysand is so wonderful. And I know, again, totally different than the first book, but in this book we got to see Rhysand as a character, whereas we didn’t see him properly in the first book. He’s charming, flirtatious and witty, but there’s also something else and he’s a really resilient character. He could have died about 1000 times in this book, been in 1000000 near-death situations and still he would have got up and done something about it.

Mor was a spectacular new addition to the characters and was such a great friend to Feyre as well as support for Rhys. She was so wonderful throughout! I wont say anymore because it may ruin it for those who haven’t read it yet.

Cassian and Azriel and Amren are other new characters that we met and added so much to the story as well as Rhysand and still remained their own individual characters.

*I actually stopped writing this review for like an hour because I had a crazy fangirl moment and was legit hyperventilating*

Plot/Pace:

The pacing was crazy. It was all over the place. It was fast in some moments which built up so so much tension made made me panic for about 99% of the book, and the other moments were sooooooo gahhhhhhhhh. Just amazing. The book had me gripped straight away and blimey, SJM didn’t start the book off slowly. BAM straight in there. *pun for all of those who’ve read it*

Honestly, so much happened in this book and thinking about it now, I just can’t believe how much. I absolutely loved seeing more of Pyrithan and especially the Night Court. (Which is definitely my fave. If I could live anywhere, it would be the night court).

With the pace, and everything happening and all the amazingly portrayed feels, I was flipping through the pages like my life depended on it and couldn’t stop reading. There were so many tense moments, romantic moments, and hilarious and action-packed ones that this book is just absolutely perfect and flawless.

I dont know how any book this year will match up to ACOMAF, perhaps ACOWAR? 114 days everyone until the next instalment from Pyrithan.

I would include a spoiler section, however, I would go on for ages…

Have you read this book? What did you think? Let me now in the comments!

Thank you all for reading,

Lu x

  1. Oh my god, this book was like a demon that possessed me! I literally could not stop reading it (and crying). The BEST part for me is the character change; I loved getting to know Rhy, and I knew there was something dodgy about Tamlin from the start (I’m one of the few who actually never liked him) so this was really clarifying. Great review!
